About Dr. Rehman

Dr. Arkam Rehman has trained at esteemed & reputable residency programs of Cook County Hospital Internal Medicine in Chicago, Mount Sinai Medical Center Neurology in New York, and Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital’s Physical Medicine & Rehabilitaton residency program in the Chicago area. He completed his Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency at the Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital affiliated residency program where he was the Chief Resident in his final year of training, managing resident physicians from 4 different residency programs. He further worked at the Chicago Institute of Neurosurgery & Neuroresearch (CINN) with esteemed Drs. Larry Frank & Dan Hurley during his Chief Residency rotations understanding spine & pain and furthering his knowledge & his approach to clinical problems. During his residency at the Marianjoy affiliated PM & R residency program, he published 4 research posters on Rehabilitation issues of the time instead of program requirement of one poster. He also has a publication as a first author on Alzheimer’s with world famous Dr. Inge Grundle-Iqbal with whom he researched biochemical abnormalities in Alzheimer Neurofibrillary tangles for about 2 years at New York State Institute for Basic Research, Staten Island, New York. He is a medical graduate of King Edward Medical University, the oldest Medical Institution of Pakistan.

After Graduating from residency, Dr. Rehman worked for 3 ½ years at Hampshire Orthopedics & Sports Medicine orthopedic clinic in Northampton, Massachusetts as an interventional Physiatrist managing all sorts of sports and spine related cases. He worked at the Athletic Health Services clinic at University of Massachusetts Amherst campus and also managed athletes & faculty etc. from Smith College, Amherst College, Hampshire College, Mount Holyoke College, Westfield State College (now University), and went to Williston High School clinic in East Hampton, MA. He worked side by side and learned from Dr. Charles Mick, past President NASS (North American Spine Society) 2013, & other Orthopedists Drs. Henry Drinker, Daniel McBride, & Jon Kurtis for 3 ½ years becoming the physician he is now and having an orthopedic musculoskeletal perspective in everything he did later in life. He started using regenerative medicine Prolotherapy approach while at Hampshire Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, at that time that would lead to further interest in Stem Cell & regenerative medicine therapies later in his career.

He next worked with the renowned physician Dr. Andrea Trescot at the Pain Center in Jacksonville area for more than a year understanding anesthesia approach to pain management. Dr. Andrea Trescot, past president ASIPP (American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians), played further role in furthering his interest in regenerative medicine as she was an avid fan of regenerative approaches to medical problems. He soon switched to work with Dr. Mark Spatola, Chief Neurosurgery at the Orange Park Medical Center, for 1 year understanding Neurosurgical approach to disc and spinal arthritis issues, and then started Sunshine Spine & Pain, PA in September 2005. He then worked side by side for 3 years with Dr. Arnold Graham-Smith, MBBS, MD, who was a NASS teacher to the orthopedists for diagnosing and treating Sacro-illiac Joint injuries surgically, and with deep involvement in SIS (Spinal Injection Society). Dr. Rehman led the Jacksonville area physicians in introducing novel therapies in Jacksonville, such as Cold Radiofrequency (Sinergy) & Simplicity Radiofrequency of sacroiliac joints and spine and also introduced Sinergy Joint Radiofrequency for Hip & Knee joints to the Jacksonville area. During the last 10 years, he again led the North Florida Physicians by offering PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma using Biomet System) treatment for sacroiliac and other injuries as an alternative to surgery. With need for stronger treatments against osteoarthritis & disk issues, he then moved into autologous stem cells from fat/adipose tissue using the well known Lipogems system and also bone marrow using the Biomet system. Need for other less invasive options led him to the use of growth factors such as Amniotic Allograft and Umbilical Cord Stem Cells. He also worked in cosmesis for close to 4 years at the Jon Ric Spa where he offered Botox & Skin Fillers to a multitude of patients due to his experience with needles and an eye for balance.

With passion for teaching he was a lecturer and a resident physician educator at the HCA run, Orange Park Medical Center residency programs in Internal Medicine, Family Practice, & Transitional year. He would lecture the residents to fulfil their core training requirements and the residents also did their clinical rotations in his medical practice. He sold Sunshine Spine & Pain in early 2018. Since 2017, he has been a visiting consultant for spine & Musculoskeletal problems at the American Spine Center in Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai. He also is a lecturer at Amna Inayat Medical College in Pakistan.

He wants to offer the most modern and cutting-edge medical treatments to people that he sees to be revolutionary and are supposed to change the face of medicine in the next decade. He is a leader in regenerative medicine & he has a very methodical approach to medical issues supported by medical literature and both published and unpublished early evidence shared between advanced medical practitioners.
